In recent years, the Bavarian aesthetic in beer pubs – the one with heavy wood and rustic elements of the countryside – has given to a new cut and aesthetic for the shops to focus on their taps, have neon lights and graffiti, they serve pizza and not pork shank.
The same is happening with beer herself: Community is enquiring, microbreweries are picking up speed and momentum, homebrewing is becoming mainstream, customers are becoming more and more familiar with the secrets of beer.
The Dog’s Place recently opened in Ano Petralona is exactly that. The new generation in brewery, the new ‘blood’, the new standards that set the bar in the Greek beer scene. Here you will find 24 drafts – of which 12 are fixed and 12 rotate weekly – on a journey into the depths of the world’s breweries, Czech Republic, Austria, England, Scotland, Romania, USA, Greece, such as Brewdog, Bernard, Bevog, Vocation, Zichovec, Bereta, Primator, Stone, North, Strange Brew, Paragon and Solo.
His fridges are full to the brim with over 200 labels for all palets, from pale and dark Ales, Lagers & Lambic (Pale Ale, IPA, Neipa, DIPA, Stout, Porter, Smoked, Imperial (Pastry) Stout, Pils, Weiss, Barley wine, Berliner Weiss, Sour Ale, Gueuze, fruit Lambic…) each with its own special characteristics and unique taste. Of course, Greek products are not missing from his quiver, with nice, fruitful collaborations, and sophisticated proposals, introducing the work of domestic microbrewers to visitors.
Dog’s Place starts early in the morning with Taf’s specialty coffee, while its menu includes delicious, filling snacks, such as pizzas, chips, and even mix grill. Those who are not beer fans can choose one of Brewdog’s spirits, such as rum, vodka and gin, which the venue offers as alternatives. He already organizes radiant events, such as tap takeovers and tastings, while his music flirts with punk, post punk, dark wave and alternative rock.
